Drive-Thru Chametz Drop-off & Burning
Dear Residents,
Mayor Pappas and the Village Trustees along with the Jewish Center of Atlantic Beach and Rabbi Weinstock are pleased to offer a “Chametz Burning” on Friday morning, April 15 at the Village Hall in advance of the Passover holiday. Similar to arrangements made in neighboring municipalities, this will allow the “chametz,” or leavened, to be disposed of in a supervised manner and provide a safe way for this Jewish custom to be observed. Designated receptacles will be available for the chametz to be dropped off. At 11:15 am, the chametz will be burned under the supervision of the Atlantic Beach Rescue and the Long Beach Fire Department. Mayor Pappas said, “The Village is pleased to offer this opportunity for Jewish residents in advance of Passover. We are joining our neighboring communities in being responsive to the needs of the community.”
Rabbi Weinstock added, “The Jewish Center of Atlantic Beach is glad to partner with the Village on this initiative. We appreciate opportunities to work together to bring people together.”
