Vernon Road Closure
A message from New York American Water
As part of New York American Water’s (NYAW) continuing program to upgrade our water supply system, we will be replacing the water main on Vernon Avenue starting Saturday, November 16, 2019. This work is a component of the new 20-inch HDPE transmission main that is being installed under Reynolds Channel to improve water service for our Atlantic Beach customers. New York American Water’s commitment to investing in infrastructure ensures customers continue to receive safe and reliable drinking water. To facilitate construction, residents on Vernon Avenue will encounter detours and road closures.
- From November 16 through approximately December 13, the intersection of Vernon Avenue and Beech St will be closed to traffic. Traffic on Vernon Avenue will be limited to residents only and two-way traffic will be allowed for access to homes.
- Additional closures will be required in January 2020. NYAW will coordinate with residents on Vernon Avenue regarding any needed closure.
- Materials for construction will be stored on Ocean Avenue near Vernon Avenue. We ask residents to please use caution in the area.
Bill Popelaski, Operations Supervisor, will monitor and inspect the water main installation project. Please call Bill Popelaski at 516-596-4807 with any questions, special needs or concerns that need to be taken into consideration during construction. Rosa Fernandez, the Project Manager, can also be reached at 516-252-8639 to address questions regarding the project. We will expedite our work as best we can and make every effort to limit the impact to residents. Your cooperation, patience and understanding is appreciated.
